Liadel Joshy - An untold story behind the genius Audio Engineer

      Joshi was introduced to the field of electronics when he was studying in the 7th standard. With this, he became a constant presence at the doors of electronics shops in the country.

     It gave Joshi great pleasure to collect the bits and pieces of capacitors and transistors that the technicians running these shops would give to avoid the nuisance of this little boy.

Joshi's next attempt to find out what magic is making a loud sound from inside a small box... no one can tell. Those who know will not tell. So I bought as many electronic books as I could and started self-study and experiments.

      After 10th standard, he joined Christ College, Iringalakuda for his undergraduate degree. During his college studies, he started making and giving cassette tapes and amplifiers to his friends and acquaintances. He got admission in polytechnic because he had good marks in undergraduate. Joined SNGIT Polytechnic College, Coimbatore to study his favorite subject, Electronics Engineering.

     After his studies there, he returned home and joined Sri Ramavarma Polytechnic in Thriprayar and successfully completed the then trending subject of computer hardware studies. Started an assembled pcb manufacturing unit at home for self income while still studying. Joshi's mother opposed all of them, saying that Joshi's intrusive work would distract his attention from studies, but Joshi's mother stood by her son's technical work. Joshi received all the help from his mother Chinnamma, a teacher at Valappad Polytechnic, except financially.

   Joshi's education was completed after 10th standard with the money he earned from the assembling unit he was doing along with his studies. The ready-made PCB assembling unit, which was run on its own, did not generate any significant revenue. As Joshi prioritized quality, these PCBs sold well among customers, but the company lost money as shopkeepers resized them without paying. Joshi, who was worried, was advised by a close friend who was a bit older and had some technical knowledge. If you have faith in the quality of your products, make finished products. Taking this advice to heart, Joshi stopped all his old businesses and turned to the manufacture of power amplifiers.

       Linear Amplifier Development Electronics Laboratory registered a brand name LiADEL and started manufacturing power amplifiers.

In the meantime, he worked as a teacher in a course to provide vocational skills to youth in the field of electronics under the Kerala Govt. Proficiency in Sound Engineering and Live Sound from Thrissur Chetana Sound Studio. He worked as a sound engineer at Ryan Studios in Ernakulam for a few years. He joined Eddy Current Controls as a design engineer in his native country and participated in the designing of India's first electric car Reva.. All this work was done while running his own company. Joshi gave up all these jobs despite the good pay as he could not adjust to working under others.

One by two, the mic operators were tied by hand and foot. Seeing their incredible performance, other operators gradually became fans of Joshi's LiADEL brand.

Liadel also runs a company that services all types of high end professional amplifiers, both Indian and foreign.

In 2010, Liadel created a 50,000 watt line array amplifier system for the ordination ceremony of Bishop Mar Pauli Kannookaran, which was attended by over 100,000 people.

Liadel has installed over 10,000 watts live sound church choir systems in more than 200 churches within and outside Kerala.

Liadell has a sound system that has no complaints as the sound systems are fitted under the direct supervision of Liadel Joshi, acoustic noise cancellation sound engineer in auditoriums and churches of all sizes.

Lea Dell brand amplifiers are also widely used in setting up Dolby Atmos sound systems in movie theaters.

In addition to amplifier manufacturing, Joshi sir also designs new amplifiers, SMPS, sub-filters and pre-amps for others and conducts online amplifier design classes for beginners.

  He is known in his circle of friends as Liadel Joshi, adding the name of the company to his own name.

      ഏഴാം ക്ലാസിൽ പഠിക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് ജോഷിയിൽ ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ് എന്ന പ്രാന്ത് കയറിക്കൂടിയത്.ഇതോടെ സദാസമയവും നാട്ടിലെ ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ് കടകളുടെ വാതിൽക്കലെ നിത്യ സാന്നിധ്യമായി മാറി. അന്നത്തെ ഈ കടകൾ നടത്തുന്ന ടെക്നീഷ്യൻമാർ ഈ ചെറുക്കൻ്റെ ശല്യം ഒഴിവാക്കാനായി നൽകുന്ന കപ്പാസിറ്ററിൻ്റെയും, ട്രാൻസിസ്റ്ററിൻ്റെയും പൊട്ടും പൊടിയും ശേഖരിക്കുന്നത് ജോഷിക്ക് വളരെ സന്തോഷം നൽകി. ചെറിയ പെട്ടിക്കുള്ളിൽ നിന്നും വലിയ ശബ്ദം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുന്നത് എന്ത് മാജിക്കാണെന്നറിയാനായി ജോഷിയുടെ പിന്നത്തെ ശ്രമം... പറഞ്ഞ് തരാൻ ആരുമില്ല. അറിയാവുന്നവർ ഒട്ട് പറഞ്ഞ് കൊടുക്കുകയുമില്ല. അതിനാൽ സ്വന്തമായി കിടാവുന്നത്ര ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ് പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ വാങ്ങി സ്വയം പഠനവും ,പരീക്ഷണങ്ങളും ആരംഭിച്ചു.

പത്താം ക്ലാസിന് ശേഷം ക്രൈസ്റ്റ് കോളേജ് ഇരിങ്ങാലക്കുടയിൽ പ്രീ ഡിഗ്രിക്ക് ചേർന്നു. കോളേജ് പഠനകാലത്ത് ,സുഹൃത്തുക്കൾക്കും ,മറ്റ് പരിചയക്കാർക്കും കാസറ്റ് ഡക്കുകളും, ആംപ്ലിഫയറുകളും ഉണ്ടാക്കി നൽകിത്തുടങ്ങി. പ്രീഡിഗ്രിക്ക് നല്ല മാർക്ക് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതിനാൽ പോളിടെക്നിക്കിൽ അഡ്മിഷൻ കിട്ടി. SNGIT പോളീടെക്നിക്ക് കോളേജ് കോയമ്പത്തൂരിൽ ഇഷ്ട വിഷയമായ ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ് എഞ്ചിനീയറിങ്ങിൽ പഠിക്കാനായി ചേർന്നു. അവിടുത്തെ പഠനശേഷം നാട്ടിലെത്തി തൃപ്രയാറിലെ ശ്രീരാമവർമ്മ പോളിടെക്നിക്കിൽ വീണ്ടും ചേർന്ന് അന്നത്തെ ട്രൻഡിങ്ങ് വിഷയമായ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ ഹാർഡ് വെയർ പഠനം വിജയകരമായിപൂർത്തിയാക്കി.

പഠനത്തിനിടയിൽ തന്നെ സ്വന്തമായി വരുമാനത്തിനായി ഒരു അസംബിൾഡ് പീസീബീ നിർമ്മാണ യൂണിറ്റ് വീട്ടിൽ തന്നെ ആരംഭിച്ചു. ജോഷിയുടെ ഈ കുത്തിത്തിരിപ്പ് പണികൾ പഠനത്തിലുള്ള ശ്രദ്ധ കളയുമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് അഛനുൾപ്പടെ എല്ലാവരും എതിർത്തപ്പോൾ ജോഷിയുടെ അമ്മ മകൻ്റെ ഈ ടെക്നിക്ക് പണികൾക്ക് എല്ലാം കൂട്ടായി നിന്നു.വലപ്പാട് പോളിടെക്നിക്കിലെ അദ്ധ്യാപികയായ അമ്മ ചിന്നമ്മയുടെ സാമ്പത്തികം ഒഴിച്ചുള്ള എല്ലാ സഹായങ്ങളും ജോഷിക്ക് നിർലോഭം ലഭിച്ചു. പഠിപ്പിനൊപ്പം നടത്തിയിരുന്ന അസംബ്ലിങ്ങ്‌ യൂണിറ്റിൽ നിന്നും സ്വന്തമായി സമ്പാദിക്കുന്ന തുക കൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു പത്താം ക്ലാസിന് ശേഷം ജോഷിയുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം മുഴുവൻ പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയത്.

സ്വന്തമായി നടത്തിവന്നിരുന്ന റഡിമേഡ് PCB അസംബ്ലിങ്ങ്‌ യൂണിറ്റിൽ നിന്നും കാര്യമായ വരുമാനമൊന്നും ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല. ഗുണമേൻമയ്ക്ക് ജോഷി മുൻഗണന നൽകിയിരുന്നതിനാൽ ഈ PCBകൾ കസ്റ്റമർമേഴ്സിനിടയിൽ നല്ല വിൽപ്പന നേടിയെങ്കിലും ഷോപ്പുടമകൾ കാശ് കൊടുക്കാതെ ഇട്ട് വലിപ്പിച്ചതിനാൽ കമ്പനി നഷ്ടത്തിലായി. ഇങ്ങനെ വിഷമിച്ചിരുന്ന ജോഷിയെ സാങ്കേതിക കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ കുറച്ച് വിവരമുണ്ടായിരുന്ന അൽപ്പം മുതിർന്ന ഒരടുത്ത സുഹൃത്ത് ഉപദേശിച്ചു. എടാ നിൻ്റെ പ്രൊഡക്റ്റുകളുടെ ഗുണമേൻമയിൽ നിനക്ക് വിശ്വാസമുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ഫിനിഷ്ഡ് പ്രൊഡക്റ്റുകൾ നിർമ്മിക്കൂ.. അല്ലാതെ ഇങ്ങനെ ചില്ലറപ്പൈസ ലാഭത്തിന് ബോർഡുകൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കി വിറ്റാൽ ഗതി പിടിക്കില്ല. ഈ ഉപദേശം ശിരസാവഹിച്ച ജോഷി പഴയ ബിസിനസുകൾ എല്ലാം നിറുത്തി പവർ ആംപ്ലിഫയറുകളുടെ നിർമ്മാണത്തിലേക്ക് തിരിഞ്ഞു. 

ലീനിയർ ആംപ്ലിഫയർ ഡവലപ്പ്മെൻ്റ് ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ് ലാബോറട്ടറി LiADEL എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു ബ്രാൻഡ് രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്തത് പവർ ആംപ്ലിഫയറുകളുടെ നിർമ്മാണം ആരംഭിച്ചു. ഇതിനിടയിൽ അൽപ്പകാലം കേരളാ ഗവ: പദ്ധയുടെ കീഴിൽ ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്സ് മേഖലയിൽ യുവാക്കൾക്ക് തൊഴിൽ പ്രാവീണ്യം നൽകുന്ന കോഴ്സിൽ അദ്ധ്യാപകനായി ജോലി ചെയ്തു. തൃശൂർ ചേതനാ സൗണ്ട് സ്റ്റുഡിയോയിൽ നിന്നും സൗണ്ട് എഞ്ചിനീയറിങ്ങിലും ലൈവ് സൗണ്ടിലും പ്രാവീണ്യം നേടി. എറണാകുളം റിയാൻ സ്റ്റുഡിയോയിൽ സൗണ്ട് എഞ്ചിനീയറായി ഏതാനും വർഷം ജോലി നോക്കി. സ്വദേശത്ത് തന്നെയുള്ള എഡ്ഡി കറണ്ട് കൺട്രോൾസിൽ ഡിസൈൻ എഞ്ചിനീയറായി ചേർന്ന് ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ആദ്യ ഇലക്ട്രിക് കാറായ റേവ യുടെ ഡിസൈനിങ്ങിൽ പങ്കാളിയായി.. ഇതെല്ലാം സ്വന്തം സ്ഥാപനം നടത്തുന്നതിനിടെ ചെയ്ത ജോലികളാണ്. മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ കീഴിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നതുമായി പൊരുത്തപ്പെടാനാകാതെ വന്നതിനാൽ നല്ല ശമ്പളമുണ്ടായിട്ടും ഈ ജോലികളെല്ലാം ജോഷി ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു. ആദ്യം നിർമ്മിച്ച ആംപ്ലിഫയറുകൾ വിൽക്കാൻ ഒത്തിരി കഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു.
